Over more than two decades training in historical martial arts, Roland has explored many of the weapons of the Italian historical traditions: longsword, sidesword, rapier, dagger, duelling sabre, stick, cane, and unarmed striking and grappling. In 2015 he was awarded the rank of Provost in the Italian traditions by a board of certified Italian-lineage fencing masters.
